Dating Profile Tips For Men Over Forty

Let me start by saying that I am writing this piece from the perspective of a single woman who has used a dating app or two. When I do take the plunge into the dating pool, I find myself gravitating toward men in their thirties. Why? Because they seem to have a better understanding of how to sell themselves online. Maybe it’s because they were introduced to social media at a younger age than the rest of us but, whatever the reason, they are better at selecting photos and writing bios that make them sound interesting, intelligent, and just sexy enough to make me pause and consider them. Of course, this isn’t true of all of them. There are still those who want to be “alphas” who only post shirtless gym but, those who know how to sell themselves do it well.

The Picture Problem

Your photos should show off your looks and give us a little insight into how you spend your time, Posting a single selfie, particularly one taken in subpar lighting and too close to the face, isn’t going to cut it. Headshots are fine but they need to be recent and well taken.

In addition to the headshot, include a few pictures of you doing what you love. A full-body shot on the jogging trail or walking your beloved pooch is great. Another of you toasting the New Year with friends is okay, as long as it’s easy to figure out who you are in a group shot.
